Our vision is for a sustainable climate resilient town, where everyone is part of a thriving community living within the planetary boundaries.

Our mission is to take action locally to address the climate and ecological emergencies and bring about a just transition to a sustainable climate resilient town. We are keen to collaborate with other organisations and communities who share our goals.

Climate Action Ilkley was formed in 2018 and became a charity in 2020. We are based in, and focus our activities on, the town of Ilkley and the surrounding area. We welcome members who have a stake in the town because they live here, work here, do business or shop here, have relatives here or just love to visit.

We promote, for the benefit of the public, the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of Ilkley. In particular:

Taking action is at the heart of our charity. This can be by holding events to inform and inspire, by running campaigns to influence decision-makers, by working with and influencing councils and businesses, by practical actions such as planting trees and facilitating solar panel installation, or by developing projects.

We are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO, charity number 1189801) and our constitution means that all members have voting rights.

We have trustees who are accountable to the Charity Commission for making sure the charity runs properly. We are always looking for people who are interested in becoming a trustee.

We use the One Planet Living framework to structure ourselves into action groups and projects. A representative from each group, and from each project, sit with the trustees on the Operations Group. This is the main operational decision-making body.
