Car Club Consultation
Our mobility workgroup has recently had a presentation from Enterprise Car Club who might set up a car club in Ilkley. They would start by making two vehicles available in Ilkley, probably 1 petrol and 1 hybrid. See opposite (or below for mobiles) for how car clubs work. In due course, they could bring electric vehicles into the fleet, but this will require lead in time to source dedicated spaces and charge points.
Generally the workgroup supports the idea of car clubs because they tend to reduce car ownership and car usage. However before we take this further, we’d like to understand more about potential demand and whether you’re happy for us to support a specific company. Please tell us your views by completing the form below.

Who are Enterprise Car Club?
They are owned by by Enterprise Rent-A-Car which has the largest car hire fleet in the UK. They have over 1,400 car club vehicles at various locations throughout the UK and, as a member, you have access to all of these. Enterprise Car Club’s headquarters are in Leeds.
Alternatives
The alternatives to Enterprise are setting up a community car club or choosing an alternative commercial car club. Currently, following initial market testing, no other commercial car clubs are likely to want to set up in Ilkley. Setting up our own community car club is a big enterprise, requires set-up funding and carries financial risk. We therefore believe that supporting Enterprise would be the best option.
