Our aim is to encourage you to take an interest in trees.
We hope you will enjoy walking our trail and learning how to identify the different species.
The Introduction to Trees trail has been supported by Climate Action Ilkley, Wharfedale Naturalists and other organisations in the town.
The trail map is on the back cover of the booklet. If you follow the trail on your phone or tablet rather than the printed booklet we suggest you print a copy of the map to use in conjunction with your phone.

The Trail runs through the areas maintained by the Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks. To learn more about them and the work they do visit their website
Trees in Winter
The trail starts at the Manor House and visits 18 trees selected from the first 26 trees in the Introduction to Trees booklet. They have been selected because they have features easy to see in winter. The winter trail takes around 50 minutes.
A map marking the location of each tree is on the back page of this booklet or can be downloaded separately. Each tree keeps its original number.
This starts in the south-east corner of the central car park, goes as far as Spence Gardens and finishes outside Christchurch on the Grove. It visits 34 trees and takes about an hour. As with the other trails there is a map on the back page of the booklet.
The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council has partnered with Trees for Streets to make it easier for residents to contribute to tree planting in streets across the city – see their press release here
