Walk to School 10th September

Climate Action Ilkley is pleased to support Walk-to-School day.

Friday 10th September will be Walk to School Day across the whole of Ilkley. Children are being encouraged to walk to school (or cycle or scooter) instead of arriving by car. (For those pupils for whom this isn’t possible, we are encouraging drivers to park one mile from the school and allow children to walk the remaining mile so that they are able to feel included in the spirit of the day). Building better transport habits is going to be crucial to the attempt to move to a zero-carbon society and short, daily journeys like the school run are a great place to begin. We hope the day will encourage parents to think about how they might reduce or even eliminate journeys to school by car and find other means for their children to make the journey from home to school and back again.
